Tag Team Tournament on Smackdown? All Japan's anniversary, more Submitted by Matthew Tremley on Monday, September 30, 2002 at 3:37 PM EST
Apparently, most of the top wrestlers on Smackdown have been told that there are plans for a tag team tournment in the works for that show. If this plan does go down, this would mean that the Smackdown brand would be getting their own Tag Team Championship.
Earlier today, All Japan held a party to celebrate it's 30th anniversary and to announce Motoko Baba getting out of the company and Keiji Muto running it. This was decided upon back in January but just announced today. Also announced was a show at the Yokohama Arena on November 17th which will be a combination show between Pride & All Japan. Kazuyoshi Ishii will be the public promoter and Billy Goldberg will be in the main event of the show. Also on the show will be people like Bob Saap, Don Frye, Sam Greco, and more
April Hunter, Shark Boy, and Slyk are all heading to the U.K. Brown will be wrestling a three-way match with Justice Pain & Doug Williams for the October 9th Irish Whip Wrestling show.
Many Calgary wrestlers are heading overseas. Chris Steele, Rod Rage & Johnny Handsome (last two better known as Chemical Cowboys) will be heading out tomorrow for the same European Tour that David Flair is on. Also, Highlander (another Calgary wrestler) will be going next month. The guys were told by former Stampede wrestler & current booker of the tour Robbie Stewart that they would be there through the spring.
In January, Juggernaut, Johnny Devine, and Harry Smith will be starting in the U.K. with All-Star Wrestling. Harry is the son of the late "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith.
On October 5th in Flint, MI at the IMA Sports Arene, Steve Wilkos (of The Jerry Springer Show fame) will be appearing for Michigan Championship Wrestling as the referee for the match between King Kong Bundy & Sabu.
