Lawler toning down commentary, HBK news, Unforgiven notes, more

Jerry Lawler has been reportedly attempting to tone down his commentary act in the recent weeks, not acting as though his hormones were put into overdrive. It's felt by himself and everyone in the WWE that he's become a parody of himself in the recent months and wasn't helping the WWE product with his over-the-top commentary.

At Roddy Piper's website, http://www.inthepitwithpiper.com, you may now pre-order a copy of his book and even get it autographed if you'd like.

Los Angeles Lakers Shaquille O'Neal and Tracy Murray were in attendance of last night's Unforgiven, if that's anything 'big' in wrestling news. Shaq has always been a big wrestling fan, growing up with an appreciation for it all of his life. His current favorite is the Undertaker, citing that the "Undertaker is my guy". Murray said that whenever the WWE comes to town, he's sure to come to the event and support the WWE.

Also in attendance was Mad TV's Will Sasso and Eric Braeden from the soap opera "Young and the Restless". Sasso has been a big supporter of wrestling, lending his services to both WCW and the WWE. In WCW, he feuded with Bret Hart after Bret's appearance on Mad TV and for the WWE, Sasso was a Steve Austin impersonator which was a very solid performance.

Shawn Michaels was backstage last night at Unforgiven, given that he was in town anyway from doing an autograph session there.

When asked about his injured back, Shawn Michaels said: "It’s not bad. The adrenaline lasted for about a week; I didn’t feel anything. After a week it started to tighten up."

Michaels also discussed how he's considering wrestling another match: "One more at WrestleMania, and then I think I’ll call it quits. Actually, I don’t think; that’ll be it."

WWE.com noted that while he's had time off recently, Michaels has gotten involved with his community, volunteering to help raise money for the International Children’s Hope of San Antonio. On October 26, HBK will be at University Bowling in San Antonio from 1 to 3 p.m. By giving a $5 donation, fans can get an autograph and a Polaroid with Michaels, and all proceeds benefit the children’s charity.

About this appearance, Shawn said "It’s for kids in Honduras – these kids have nothing. We’re trying to get them a van to get them to and from the different churches."

Also in attendance at Unforgiven was D'Marco Farr and former Phillie John Kruk from the FOX Sports show "Best Damn Sports Show Period". The WWE is now working with FOX to have several wrestlers or personalities appear on the show. They were backstage and they interviewed Eric Bischoff and a number of WWE superstars their shows this week.
