- According to sources that spoke with 1wrestling.com, both Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler were reportedly very unhappy with splitting their announing time last night at WWE Vengeance on Pay Per View with Michael Cole and Tazz. Jim Ross was said to be against the idea thinking that angles between announcing teams on the two separate brands would not go down. Ross was also said to be upset about how he wasn't notified of this going down until the night of the Pay Per View, even though it was planned days ahead. Many feel it was Brian Gerwertz's and Vince McMahon's responsibility to inform Ross of this major storyline instead of waiting until the day of the event. In addition to what Jim Ross felt about the incident, Jerry Lawler was said to be just as upset and not happy about sharing time. A number of people backstage informed sources that even though Jim Ross was not happy about the idea, he went along with it being put in a position to do what is best for business.
It is not known at this time who came up with the idea for the angle but many feel it was an angle that was a long time coming so to speak. It would only make sense that those from the SmackDown brand who appear on the Pay Per View should have their announcers call matches on the show. It is also getting around the company that Paul Heyman has spent a good amount of time with both Michael Cole and Tazz, attempting to better themselves as a team. Ross is said to not be happy about this, possibly starting rumors with heat between Heyman and Ross.
On a side note, many people backstage were putting over the job that Michael Cole and Tazz did on Sunday night and the fact they pretty much out did Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. The general feeling overall is that both Michael Cole and Tazz took a big step forward at the Pay Per View last night.
