Behind The Shotgun's Barrel - Nothing will ever be like it was before

A punk band by the name Lacteos has a song in Spanish that says “nothing will ever be like it was before”, it’s a great song and I think it says something that is very real and very true, nothing can be the same as it once was no matter how bad you want it. However people like to think otherwise, they want to go back to the good old days, the days where everything was fine, the days where everything was good.

Things are never the same, only different, but because they are different it doesn’t mean they are bad. ECW was different and it definitely wasn’t bad, during the last WCW days it was different, most of it was bad, that’s why the company went down under, the WWE right now is different, everyone seems to want thing to become good again, so many different opinions around the web, people dedicate full columns saying how they can change the product for the better, however what do we know? Are we bookers? We don’t all have the same taste, and for every feedback you get saying your ideas were good there is someone out there who disagrees completely.

Russo takes credit for being the father of the Attitude era, supposedly it was his booking that took the WWF on top and kept it there for so long, however if the man was such a genius then why when he jumped not only did he kill WCW but the WWF became more realistic, different and perhaps even better? McMahon bringing back Russo is a clear sign of wanting things to be as they were before, he figured Russo did the Attitude era; he can do a new one and go back on top.

Lightning may strike twice, but that is very rare and it doesn’t happen often. Russo was a desperation act in McMahon’s part to get Russo to not publish his tell all book that god knows how many skeletons will Russo reveal in McMahon’s closet and the other reason was because perhaps McMahon for at least a second thought Russo could really help him do a better product.

However everything went the other way around, Russo made his shocking return to the WWE only to get demoted instantly, no shock there. The Attitude era is over, teenagers have moved on, even the father of the attitude era is dead and we all know that was Steve Austin. The WWE cant turn the company around in one day, hell if they really want to turn it around perhaps is best to push some new talent, see how the ratings drop but to keep writing and pushing and showcasing their talents until the core fans are pleased with how the show goes, with the core fans pleased more fans are bound to follow, but they cant do that, can they? They can’t possibly push someone new when they have such “big” draws as Hulk Hogan, Undertaker and God himself Triple H. Those guys might have drawn lots of money once, but people are turning against them, they are no longer believable and there is no reason to care about them no more. Triple H has done so much damage to Angle and Jericho he backed himself into a corner and now he is left without anyone to feud, gee, what a smart guy.

A good example of a wise business decision is to give the undisputed belt to Angle for more than one reason, first I am a huge Angle fan but I have been deprived of his talent thanks to the split, however Angle is perhaps the greatest wrestler out there right now and a solid man to put the belt on, why not give him the belt and have him travel to both shows putting on great matches on both shows? We can’t do that, can we? Angle got raped so much with his character that him holding the undisputed title sounds somewhat funny and not believable, that is not the fans fault, it’s the WWE and that is a clear sign of weakness.

In short the WWE will never ever be like it was before, the Attitude era will never come back, Austin will never get the reaction he got when he used to flip Vince McMahon off, things now are different and they are worse, time to make them better before the WWE goes down under just like ECW and WCW did before them.

BOW EFED: Kiss your nerves bye bye.
