Submitted by Segaboyno on Thursday, June 20, 2002 at 4:37 PM EST

Hello once again and welcome to this weeks edition of Wrestling Challenge, coming from the Kansas Expocentre in Topeka, the state's capital. Steve Rosenblatt of the center thanks the WWF for coming, and says it is a pleasure to have such an event at their facility. Gorilla Monsoon and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan welcome us to the show, and the introduction music video then plays. Coming up this week there will be a live interview with Andre the Giant and Ted DiBiase, along with Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake, a Wrestlemania IV report, Ravishing Rick Rude, Koko B. Ware, Demolition, and much more. Let's head down to ringside.

    Match #1
Danny Davis (w/ Jimmy Hart) vs. Koko B. Ware
The fans come alive as Koko makes his entrance to the ring, alongside Frankie, his pet bird. The bell sounds, and whilst Koko is distracted by Jimmy Hart, Davis attacks him from behind, taking the initial advantage. He unloads with some big roundhouse rights, and some kicks to the midsection. He backs Koko into the corner and delivers many more right hands, before whipping him into the opposite corner. Koko manages to jump up onto the middle rope and avoid the oncoming collision however, and as Davis runs underneath him, Koko is able to roll him up for a two count. Davis immediately regains control thereafter and delivers more right hands to Koko, followed by a headbutt to the midsection. He then delivers some elbows, and whips Koko to the corner again, but the exact same thing happens as before. Only this time, Koko leaps from the middle rope and nails Davis with a high cross body, again scoring a two count. Davis regains control with more right hands, and then rams Koko face first into the canvas. He whips Koko to the ropes, but misses with an elbow, and Koko then rolls up Davis, and yet again scores a two count. Davis runs to the ropes and keeps Koko down with a kick to the head, and he then chokes him on the middle rope. Davis whips Koko to the ropes, but the latter leapfrogs over the former referee, before sending him down with a dropkick. Davis then goes back to work with several kicks, and whips Koko to the ropes one more time. He makes the mistake of putting his head down though, which allows Koko to execute the brainbuster for the pinfall finish.
Winner - Koko B. Ware via pinfall, at 02:25

Craig DeGeorge is standing by with this weeks special report, and says that at Wrestlemania IV there will be a six-man tag team match, as The British Bulldogs team up with Koko B. Ware to take on The Islanders and Bobby Heenan. Highlights are shown from a few weeks back when The Islanders stole Matilda, and ran off with him down the aisle. President Jack Tunney's announcement to suspend the duo is then shown, much to the crowd's delight. From there, Matilda's health deteriorated, and the Bulldogs obviously felt depressed, despite having retrieved their mascot. Davey Boy says she just wasn't the same dog anymore, and DeGeorge says that the fans "get well" messages were the key in helping to get the dog back in shape. This will be Bobby Heenan's first match for over a year, and Davey Boy then says that at Wrestlemania, Matilda will also return, with a larger chest and sharper jaws. Dynamite says that she is looking great, and just can't wait to get to the event.

    Match #2
"The Natural" Butch Reed (w/ Slick) vs. Mike Richards
Reed goes after Richards right from the bell, as Monsoon reminds us that Reed will have a chance to take home the WWF title at Wrestlemania, as he is one of the many participants in the tournament for the vacant title. Reed delivers some right hands, and then stomped on Richards whilst he's down. Reed then sends Richards' head into the turnbuckle, before choking him on the top rope. He snaps him back into the centre of the ring, and then pounds away on Richards' back. Pre-recorded comments from Randy Savage are shown, who will be Reed's first round opponent. He feels very confident, and has a special treat, and brings in Elizabeth to stand next to him. Back in the ring, Reed makes a cover but only wants a two count, and then whips Richards to the ropes and sends him down with a clothesline. Reed then goes to the top rope and delivers a huge flying clothesline, scoring the victory.
Winner - "The Natural" Butch Reed via pinfall, at 01:58

Craig DeGeorge is standing by with more news on Wrestlemania IV, and brings in Hulk Hogan. He has justifiably been given a first round bye, but will have to go up against Andre the Giant in the second round. Hogan says that for four-and-a half long years, Hulkamania has got bigger and bigger, and at Wrestlemania, there will be no excuses, and no controversy. He says that with the whole world watching he is going to wipe Andre out, and says that they will show the world that they are Hulkamaniacs as one. He then says that Andre stole the title from him, ripping him off in the process, and then sold it to Ted DiBiase. But at Wrestlemania he will retrieve the belt and prove that Hulkamania will live forever. Wrestlemania IV takes place on Sunday afternoon, March 27, and you can witness the event at a closed circuit location near you, or on pay-per-view.

    Match #3
Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake vs. Brian Costello
Brutus will also be in action at Wrestlemania, as he attempts to wrestle the Intercontinental title away from the current champion, The Honky Tonk Man. The bell sounds and they lock up, and as Brutus backs Costello into the ropes, the referee calls for a clean break. Pre-recorded comments from Beefcake are shown, and he says that he can imagine the belt hanging on his way, with a lock of Honky's greasy hair hanging right beside it. They lock up again, and this time Costello backs Brutus into the ropes, but refuses to make a clean break, nailing Beefcake with several right hands. Brutus fights back with some right hands of his own, which sends Costello down to the mat. He backs away into the corner, and an attempted kick is caught by Brutus, who spins him around and delivers an atomic drop, which sends Costello over the top rope to the outside. Brutus struts in the ring in the meantime, before slingshotting Costello back in. Costello manages to get a shot in to the midsection of Brutus though, but the barber reverses an irish whip, sending Brian into the turnbuckle. Brutus delivers some right hands to the midsection, before sending Costello to the opposite turnbuckle. As he backs out, Brutus catches Costello with a sleeper, which ultimately sends him to sleep. Before the match ended, Heenan said, "I've got a phone call", and simply leads his announcing position. After the match ends, Brutus grabs his cutting equipment and chops off the locks of Costello, which he also hopes to do to Honky at Wrestlemania. When the jobber awakes, he sees all his hair on the canvas, and is none to happy about it.
Winner - Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake via submission, at 02:09

    Match #4
Ravishing Rick Rude (w/ Bobby Heenan) vs. Jimmy Evans
Before we get underway, Rude gets on the microphone and asks for the music to be cut, and says that he'd like to have all the coyote-looking men to keep down the noise so that the ladies can marvel at his masculinity. He then proceeds to disrobe, much to the ladies approval. The bell sounds and Rude delivers a knee to the midsection, before hammering away on the back of Evans. Monsoon reminds us that Rude will be competing in the tournament at Wrestlemania, and his first round opponent is none other than Jake "The Snake" Roberts. Evans attempts to throw a punch but Rude throws a right hand into his head, slowly but surely sending him straight down. Rude then applies an inverted chin lock, and stomps away thereafter. Rude then whips Evans to the ropes and delivers a clothesline, and then rams Evans face-first into the mat upon his revival. Pre-recorded comments from Jake Roberts are shown, and he says that he has the right attitude to go out and win the tournament, but attitude's change, and he aims to teach Rude a lesson, and says that the dance contest is over. Back in the ring, Rude is posing for the crowd, and then chokes Evans on the top rope. He reapplies the chin lock for several seconds, and then drags Evans up, delivers the rude awakening neckbreaker, and scores the pinfall.
Winner - Ravishing Rick Rude via pinfall, at 01:57

Craig DeGeorge is backstage and is standing by with more Wrestlemania news, and says that the excitement is already building. The guest ring announcer is "Mr. Baseball", Bob Eucker, and he runs down the card once again. Jimmy Hart enters, and says that Brutus Beefcake should realise that Honky is the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time, and trying to cut his hair will not work. Honky then enters as well, and brings his guitar with him. He says that it will be the biggest day of his life, and the biggest day in wrestling history, as the whole world will stop to watch it. He runs through several scenarios in the favour of Brutus but dismisses them all, and discusses the possibility of cutting Brutus' hair.

Bob Eucker is alongside Slick and is preparing for Wrestlemania IV in Atlantic City, and brings in the One Man Gang. Eucker says that this man loves him, but Slick stops him in his tracks, and he says that when he steps on the scales it says "to be continued". Monsoon then outrageously claims that every celebrity wanted to be a part of Wrestlemania, but only a lucky few were chosen.

    Match #5
Bam Bam Bigelow (w/ Oliver Humperdinck) vs. Frank DeFalco
The bell sounds and DeFalco takes the initiative by getting in a few right hands, but a succession of headbutts by Bigelow soon stops him in his tracks. Bigelow then whips him to the ropes and delivers a flying clothesline, followed by a suplex. He then delivers a diving headbutt to DeFalco who is lying motionless on the mat. Monsoon informs us that Bigelow is also entered into the Wrestlemania tournament, and his first round opponent will be none other than the One Man Gang. We go to pre-recorded comments from Bigelow, who says that this is the opportunity of a lifetime, and that he will come out in flames. Humperdinck then says that the winner will take on the winner of the Jake/Rude match, and that he is going all the way. Back in the ring, Bam Bam delivers an elbow, and then levels DeFalco with a huge roundhouse right. Bigelow then delivers a bodyslam, and then a splash to follow. Bigelow whips DeFalco into the corner and then follows up and squashes him like a fly, before delivering a flying headbutt for the finish.
Winner - Bam Bam Bigelow via pinfall, at 01:21

Craig DeGeorge is standing by with this week's special interview guests in the arena, who are Andre the Giant, Ted DiBiase, and Virgil. DeGeorge says that one way or another history will be made at Wrestlemania, and the championship elimination tournament will have six first round matches. Ted DiBiase's first opponent is Jim Duggan, but Andre the Giant has a bye into the second round, and will face Hulk Hogan. Andre says that Jack Tunney should have let him sell the belt to DiBiase, but he doesn't care now, because in the second round he will put Hulk Hogan down again, and go on to defeat the other two guys. Andre tells Hogan that he will remain undefeated, rather questionably. DiBiase says he's already tasted what it's like to have the gold around the waist, and if it wasn't for the WWF and Jack Tunney then he would still have the belt. But he says that's history that can't be changed, so he will have to right new history. He questions what Duggan will do when he competes against a man of his talent.

We go to comments from Hercules, who will take on the Ultimate Warrior in a special challenge match at Wrestlemania. He says that time is drawing short for the Warrior, and every second draws us closer to the ultimate confrontation. Only one man can be called the true "warrior", and the mighty Hercules will prevail. Comments from the Ultimate Warrior are then shown, and he says that the heavens have opened up from above and the heavens have spoken, and it is time for Hercules to pay the price. He must step into the darkness and attempt to handle the ultimate challenge.

Craig DeGeorge is standing by with another instalment in his special report, and informs us that the tag team titles will also be on the line, as Strike Force defend their championships against Mr. Fuji's Demolition. Highlights are shown from last November, when Rick Martel made Jim Neidhart submit to his boston crab, thus crowning Strike Force as tag team champions. Comments from the champs are then shown, and Tito Santana says that they know how to put their match together the way that it is supposed to be. Martel says that he knows that Demolition are strong, big and ugly, but at Wrestlemania, they will not hide and will be ready for them. Comments from Demolition are then shown, and Smash says that Mr. Fuji wants the titles, and he always gets what he wants. Axe then says they will mess their faces up, and will come out black and blue. In addition to this there are also many celebrities involved, such as Bob Eucker, who is the guest ring announcer. In addition to this, Wheel of Fortune star Vanna White has just been announced as the special guest timekeeper. She says that she is really excited about this, and is looking forward to seeing the fans in Atlantic City.

    Match #6
Demolition (w/ Mr. Fuji) vs. Sonny Rogers & Gary Jackson
The bell sounds and Smash grabs hold of Jackson and backs him into the corner, before unloading with right hands. Axe tags in and delivers an axehandle to Jackson, before bodyslamming him. Rogers tags in but gets hammered down with more axehandles, as Smash tags back in. He delivers some heavy forearms before delivering a hiptoss, and then another bodyslam. Jackson tags back in but gets caught with a kneelift, and Smash then scoops him up and perches him on the top turnbuckle in Demolition's corner. Axe tags back in and they double team Jackson with heavy axehandles, and Axe applies a front facelock, before tagging in Smash moments later. He nails Jackson in the abdomen with a right hand, before clotheslining him across the top rope. Axe tags in and delivers the elbow, right into the backbreaker of Smash for the victory.
Winners - Demolition via pinfall, at 01:58

Craig DeGeorge is standing by with some big news, and says that Vanna White is the guest timekeeper. The Ultimate Warrior also takes on Hercules, and Strike Force go up against Demolition. He brings in Hacksaw Jim Duggan, who goes up against Ted DiBiase in the opening round of the WWF Title tournament. He says that he can't worry about looking at some woman spinning a wheel, as he has the chance to win the title. He's not worrying about the second round, as he's focused solely on Ted DiBiase, and says that he's going down. Comments from Greg Valentine are then shown, who takes on Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat in the first round. He says that it the biggest chance for himself and his manager to have the gold, and Steamboat will feel the wrath of the new Valentine.

That's all for this week on Wrestling Challenge, but next week we will see Strike Force, The Honky Tonk Man, The Ultimate Warrior, Ted DiBiase and Randy Savage, in what sounds like a star-studded line-up. There will also be another special Wrestlemania IV report, so until then, take care!
