WWE changes Boston plans, Smackdown! 4 for PS2 news, more

  • Chris Kanyon was backstage at Judgment Day on Sunday and he was said to look ready to return. Kanyon is currently getting back in ring shape at Ohio Valley Wrestling.

  • Reportedly, WWE has scrapped plans to have the July 1st Raw and July 2nd Smackdown both in Boston due to recent attendence problems. WWE figured it wouldn't be the best move right now to run two shows back to back in the same city. The July 1st Raw will now be in Manchester, New Hampshire while the July 2nd Smackdown will remain in Boston.

  • WWE has launched the official King of the Ring website at WWEKingoftheRing.com.

I just bought the June 2002 PSM (Playstation Magazine)
and it has some info on WWE Smackdown! 4 for
    Playstation 2:

    Game Update
    First Details: WWE Smackdown! 4

It shouldn't come as a surprise to wrestling fans that
THQ is already hard at work on a new WWE Smackdown!
game for PS2, but what should we expect from it? Well,
for one thing, it will definitely feature the WCW/ECW
wrestlers that were brought onboard the WWE roster
last year, as well as newer talent such as the NWO's
Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and ex-NWO member Hulk
    Hogan.

Yuke's (the designer of the past three Smackdown!
titles) is once again at the helm, and is currently
working hard to polish the gameplay and address fan's
complaints now that the series' game engine is pretty
much set. The story mode promises to be bigger than
ever, and there's also a chance that the recent
Raw/Smackdown! roster split will be incorporated --
possibly by making Ric Flair's Monday night grapplers
    hidden characters.

THQ's plan is to launch Smackdown! 4 (working title)
sometime around this October or November. We'll have
more on the game over the next two months.
