July & December WWF Pay-Per-Views Get New Names
Submitted by William Martinez on Monday, April 29, 2002 at 6:20 PM EST

  • Today, the WWF announced that their July pay-per-views, named Invasion last year and Fully Loaded for three years prior, will now be called Vengeance, which was the name the WWF used for their December 2001 pay-per-view. For their December events, the WWF has opted to once again rename the show Armageddon, which was the event's name in 1999 and 2000. The name wasn't used last year due to the sensitivity of September 11th.

There was a guy on MTV's Real World 10: New York name Mike Mizanin that was a big wrestling fan. On a few episodes, he imitated "The Rock" with a character called "The Miz". I think I saw him on the current Real World / Road Rules: Batlte of the Seasons show. Anyway, it looks like he's training with Rick Bassman's Ultimate Pro Wrestling school, which has produced such wrestlers as former WWA World Champion Nathan Jones, "Big Bad John" Heidenreich, Prototype, and many others. Last night on George Michael's Sports Machine, Hogan winning the Undisputed Championship, was chosen as the Sports Machine Play of the Week. It showed a clip of Hogan dropping the leg on Triple H and getting the pin at Backlash.

I was in the grocery store today, and as everyone else, glancing at the supermarket tabloids. One of which happened to be "The Globe" with a front cover story of The Rock's boob job!

I quickly picked it up and flipped over to that story to find out that they not only have the story but have confirmed it with an interview with the Rock. In there he states about how he owes all of his accomplishments to the Great Chief Peter Mavia and his biggest regret is that the Chief never got to see him perform.

Then he went into the issue with the boob job. Apparantly prior to filming the Scorpion King, The Rock had liposuction done on his chest to flatten out the man boobs he was developing. His statement is that he didn't like how his chest looked and that the operation was completely aesthetic.

I have looked for links to the article but can not find the globe online, so anyone interested in the rest of this story pick one up.

In our local Sunday paper, Erie, PA., they had a very good sized article on the WWF and Kurt Angle coming to the Tullio Arena on Monday, April 29. The article can be read HERE.

Rolling Stone has a pretty good article about the Rock in their newest issue (May 9). It's mostly about him as a person (for instance, he eats 18 donuts in a sitting... good lord) with a little WWF and Scorpion King mixed in. Here's a link to the article online: http://www.rollingstone.com/mv_news/newsarticle.asp?nid=15760

http://www.interscope.com has a link on their front page where you're able to stream the entire TE2 soundtrack online until it's May 14 relase date.

Kurt Angle's wife was on Bubba the love sponge this morning. (9:45-10:00) She released that she is pregnant, and that is was conseived during WM18 week. Both Bubba and her admitted to messing around. And in Bubba's words with an "Oral Gimmick", but didn't remember having any intercourse. They were both drunk and Bubba was even on pain medication at that time, so they really wern't sure exactly what happened.

She said Kurt must have known that something went on. The last time Kurt was on Bubba's show (2 weeks ago) they talked about how hot she was, and she was going to give him oral right after they got off the phone with Bubba. Kurt was joking about letting Bubba have sex with his wife if Bubba really wanted to find out how good she was in bed.

Kurt is thrilled with her being pregnant. She also said that she and Kurt must have had sex 10 times over the week at WM18.

That's quite a phone call, and it might be a work, but she is pregnant. Be reminded that Bubba is friends with Hogan, Edge, Jericho, and too many others to mention. And is on the air in Tampa, Jacksonville, West Palm Beach, & Macon, GA. There should be something on his website later today too. http://www.bubbathelovesponge.com

    - The UK version of RAW had the entire Booker T and Goldust segment- where they
mocked The Rock in The Scorpion King- completely cut from the show! No reason as to
why the WWF or Sky did this for its UK audience.

    - A friend of mine, returning from holiday, met The Big Show at Delhi Airport, India on
Saturday. The Big Show was travelling back to the States for RAW this Monday after a
short promotional trip to the sub-continent. The newest member of the nWo was in a
queue to check in at the airport- and at 7ft, 500 pounds, obviously stuck out.

    - The Booker T/Bubba Ray Dudley match has been removed from the "official"
Insurrextion card. As mentioned in the Ross Report- Both Bubba Ray and Matt Hardy will
not be travelling to Europe this week. The Hardyz were due to face the team of Brock
Lesnar and Shawn Stasiak. Tommy Dreamer has now been added to the tour- so a
hardcore title change could be in the pipeline on RAW this Monday.

    - A Limited number of tickets may be made available for all the UK WWF shows on the
morning of the event, once the set design is in place. Check with the Arena Box Office(s)
    for availability.

    - 'The Saturday Show' on BBC 1 in the UK will feature WWF Diva Terri Runnels and Jim
Ross answering questions from callers. The show airs this upcoming Saturday morning
    from 9am.

    - Speaking of the European Tour, here are the official cards for the UK house shows this
    week:

Thursday 2nd May in Glasgow, Scotland at the SECC:

Triple H & Ric Flair vs. Undertaker & William Regal
Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Big Show
    Bradshaw vs. Scott Hall
    Rob Van Dam vs. X-Pac
WWF Intercontinental champion Eddie Guerrero vs. Jeff Hardy
Spike Dudley vs. Booker T vs. Goldust
    Matt Hardy vs. Brock Lesnar
WWF Women's champion Jazz vs. Trish Stratus
    Crash Holly vs. Shawn
Jerry Lawler & Jackie vs. Mr Perfect & Molly Holly

Friday 3rd May in Birmingham, England at the NEC:

Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. Scott Hall
Triple H and Matt Hardy vs. The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar
    Bradshaw vs. The Big Show
    Rob Van Dam vs. X-Pac
WWF Intercontinental champion Eddie Guerrero vs. Jeff Hardy
WWF Women's champion Jazz vs. Jackie
WWF European champion Spike Dudley vs. William Regal
    Crash Holly vs. Shawn Stasiak
Jerry Lawler & Trish Stratus vs. Mr Perfect & Molly Holly
    Booker T vs. Tommy Dreamer

    - In the 'News Of The World' UK paper, it was announced that the next UK
PPV, "Rebellion" will take place at the Manchester Evening News Arena on Saturday 26th
October 2002. An on-sale date for tickets will be announced at Insurrextion.

    - The WWF will be holding a special press conference at The Molson Centre, Montreal,
Canada on Friday 10th May. The conference will feature a special announcement
concerning the Smackdown show which will take place there the following week. Adverts
have been airing on Canadian TV asking fans to attend the conference where they'll also
have the chance to meet a few WWF superstars.

    - TVO in Canada last week aired a documentary on the life of Owen Hart. I caught some
of it and it included a lot of interviews with many of the Harts including Bret, The late
    Martha and Owen himself.

    - 2 of the UK's brightest stars will be exhibiting their talents abroad over the coming
weeks. High-Flyer Jody Fleisch is in Japan working for Michinoku Pro while former FWA
champion will be in the US for the next 'Ring Of Honor' event in June. Both wrestlers
recieved rave reviews last time they were in the respected countries.
