--Last night’s WWF Smackdown drew an overnight rating of 4.9, which is up from last week’s 4.6 overnight number. Despite the increase in the rating, UPN dropped to 5th place among top networks. The final Smackdown rating, which is usually lower than the overnight one, should be released later today. --The Rock is on the verge of signing a contract to reprise his role of “The Scorpion King” in a sequel to the movie. Because of the success of “The Scorpion King” it is rumored that he will be given a base salary of $10 million for the role. He is already on tour promoting the movie, and soon after will start shooting for his next movie – “Helldorado.” The tentative shoot date for the Scorpion King sequels is after he completes shooting for “Helldorado” which means that he won’t be around in the WWF longer than previously reported. If the sequel goes through, he will have very limited time in the WWF for several months to come. [Credit: 1wrestling.com] --WWF Questions Fla. Wrestling Defense FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - The World Wrestling Federation wants to question a boy about the wrestling defense his attorney used during his murder trial last year. WWF attorneys have subpoenaed Lionel Tate, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported Thursday. They want to question him about the defense his attorney Jim Lewis mounted when Tate was tried for the July 1999 death of 6-year-old Tiffany Eunick. Lewis had claimed that Tate, then 12, accidentally killed Tiffany while imitating pro wrestling moves. Tate, tried as an adult, was convicted of first-degree murder and received a life sentence. The WWF has filed a multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit against Lewis in New York for implying in interviews and a video that the Federation was partly responsible for the girl's death. The WWF says it lost advertisers because of Lewis' claims. Richard Rosenbaum, Tate's attorney, said in court documents that the WWF should be barred from questioning his client because the conversations with Lewis are protected by attorney-client privilege. He also wrote that Tate is not intellectually competent to testify. Lewis' attorney, Robert Buschel, said his client zealously tried to win Lionel's freedom. "It was never about the WWF, it was about Lionel Tate." [Credit: Yahoo!
