Rankings for Basic Cable Networks The overnight Smackdown rating came in at a 4.6. Last week's overnight rating was a 4.7. The final rating should be available later today. Credit: ProWrestlingTorch.com On Smackdown it was announced that Jeff Hardy would be taking Matt Hardy's place in the match against Brock Lesnar at Backlash. Matt is not really injured. The switch is just part of the stoyline. "I got a call from my agent saying 'I've got great news, I've been watching the dailies. I've been watching the footage that you just shot yesterday. They love it so much they're thinking about a movie about your character the scorpion king'," he said. "And I said 'that's fantastic, that's cool'." We all know when it comes to acting, The Rock is no novice - apart from NIDA, there is probably no better training ground for actors than the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) and in The Scorpion King, The Rock pulls out all the stops. "I wanted to go out there and showcase a little bit of depth - dramatic depth but not too heavy though," he said. "Comedic depth, romantic depth a little bit but above all else, go out there and kick ass, which is what you'd expect me to do." Befittingly, the film is also a tale of epic proportions, a tale of a warrior assassin who takes on a tyrannical ruler. "I had the chance to see it with an audience," he said. "They didn't know I was there - I just snuck in and hearing them respond to everything made everything worthwhile." As wrestling's favourite son, The Rock has achieved a lifestyle once the domain of Hollywood superstars. He has amassed a fortune taking big hits and, in The Scorpion King, he takes plenty more. "If there's a stunt to be done and I think I can play it well - and still protect myself physically - then basically I will and I did," he said. "I had great stunt doubles but I wanted to make sure that the audience knew that when that guy gets hit with that bucket and sails a storey down and through the tent, well that guy is old bucket head himself - me." The Scorpion King opened in cinemas nationwide on April 18. Having heard him speak in person here in Daytona Beach, Fla., (home of the NWO's formation and Dennis Rodman's wrestling debut), he is very interesting and is a class act. The Pro Wrestling Hall Of Fame Features Cappetta's "Bodyslams! & Beyond" Stage Show April 17, 2002 Schenectady, New York Gary Michael Cappetta's wrestling based stage show, "Bodyslams! & Beyond", will be the featured entertainment during The Pro Wreslting Hall of Fame's Sunday induction ceremony at Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady, New York on Sunday, May 5th at 2:00 pm. The show is based on Cappetta's highly praised book, "Bodyslams!, Memoirs of a Wrestling Pitchman", which chronicles his career in professional wrestling from local WWF announcer to an international figure with Turner Broadcasting's WCW and with the AWA on ESPN. While touring with his "Bodyslams!" book, Gary has become known for expressing his sometimes controversial views about the legendary wrestlers and current superstars that he has worked beside. As a pundit of the current pro wrestling scene, Cappetta has received worldwide recognition for his bold assessment of the state of the industry. Few are more insightful. None are more straightforward. When Gary takes the stage of the 2500 seat Proctor's Theatre he will offer a modified, sixty-minute version of his show. The full production runs three hours when it is presented on its own. For this momentous occasion, Cappetta will include insights into his experiences with The McMahon Family, Gorilla Monsoon, The Undertaker, Ric Flair, Verne Gagne, Mick Foley as well his now famous rants on the state of the national and independent pro wrestling scene of today. His experiences as an announcer for the WWF, the NWA, the AWA and WCW offer a perfect match for the festivities that will honor thirteen of wrestling's legendary superstars. GMC recently commented on his upcoming appearance from his NJ home, "It is an incredible honor to have this opportunity to share my experiences and insights in the form of "Bodyslams! & Beyond "at such a prestigious event. I'm thankful that the Hall's directors have invited me, but to tell you the truth, I'd be there to support The Hall Of Fame even if I weren't part of the show. I have seen how hard everyone has worked to offer pro wrestling fans a place to soak up the history of our game. I hope that many of the fans who I've met on tour can travel to Schenectady. I'll be at the card show on Saturday and then we'll perform at Proctor's Theatre on Sunday. We all need to support their efforts to honor so many who gave so much to all of us throughout the years. Every indication is that his will be a first class event."
