Breaking The Walls Down
Hello all and welcome back to Breaking The Walls Down. It's Spring, vacation for me to Florida starts this Saturday, and my Phillies are not playing good ball. Well, two out of three in the last sentence isn't bad. Anyway, onto Bits and Pieces.
Bits and Pieces
RVD vs. Eddie G. at Backlash. And, I'm going to miss it because I'll be in Florida. Ugh, I am upset about that big time, but my fiance and I need the vacation. Long story short, this is gonna be a match of the year candidate. That was a really sweet move RVD did to Eddie on RAW. Innovativeness is the key and I am certain we will see that in this match.
Al Snow and Maven are tagging for the belts at Backlash? What the heck is going on here? Tag teams are starting to be depleted in the WWF. Hopefully we don't see the tag team division fall to what it was in the early to mid 90s.
We are going to see Triple H vs. Hulk Hogan at Backlash for the World Title. While I can tell Hogan is over, I am hoping they keep the belt on Triple H. Triple H adds more credibility to that title. No shots at Hogan on this one, but having Hogan (who is almost 50) upend Triple H (who is in his prime), would not look very good, at least in my eyes.
The Hardcore Division is a joke. I'm wondering if they don't want them to purposely make it too hardcore because it may steal match of the night on a consistent basis. After a while, it would become a mini-ECW, which I think McMahon wants to avoid.
I have a new e-mail address by the way. My e-mail address is cxd300@yahoo.com. Feel free to e-mail me there. Please take notice of this e-mail address, as my next column depends on you using it.
And now onto the column.
It's A Sloooooooow Start
I'm not here to condem. I'm not here to say the end is near. I'm not here to tell you to forget your dream matches. What I am here to say is that I think this whole split is starting off very, very slow. It is understandable that this whole process takes some time to sort out, and it is true that it's only been a few weeks, but geesh, watching Raw and Smackdown! is becoming a painful thing. There are noteable exceptions with competitors, but the standard is . . . the split isn't what people had hoped it would be.
Let's examine what McMahon has decided upon. Raw will feature the Hardcore Division. Well, no need to go any further with this one, just read my Bits and Pieces segment on the Hardcore Division to understand how I feel towards it. Smackdown! will feature the Cruiserweight Division, which, in my opinion, is going to shape up to be a good division. Smackdown! has it all, as far as talent. Raw has RVD, Austin, Hardys, Undertaker, Lesnar, Eddie G., Booker T, but, well, that's it. Bubba-Ray is a great competitor, but as a tag team with D-Von, no doubts there. Bubba can wrestle singles matches, but it's very hard for me to stop putting him together with his "half brother".
Both shows have at least one woman's match every time and it, again, does nothing for me. I have said this time and time again, but for the sake of any new readers, the women will not get naked. They may pop out every now and then, but if you're that desperate to see some quick chest clips, flip on some Spice or something to get a quick flick, you'll see more there. Molly Holly and Jackie are by far the best competitors in the division. Jazz is o.k. with Lita a distant fourth (in terms of wrestling). Trish is improving, but she's got a long way to go until she is even close to the same league as Molly or Jackie. Also, let's not forget about Ivory is as good as Molly and Jackie. I miss Torrie, as well, because she could really wrestle, too.
Speaking of missing people, Smackdown! is missing The Rock right now, I guarantee you of that. The Rock deserves his time off right now, I won't argue with that, but the company that he helped build to this day is sorely missing him. Other guys like Rhyno, Kanyon, Awesome, and Benoit all are sorely missed, big time. Benoit followed by Rhyno are the two big ones. Add these guys to the mix, please. These guys are what the WWF needs (along with good storylines).
Now, I want your thoughts. What do you think? I want to know where you want the WWF to go from here. E-mail me and let me know. I want to hear from you about this so I can put a column together on what the fans want when I come back from vacation after next week.
