I was flipping back and forth between Smackdown and Fox's O'Reilly Factor Special: The corruption of the American Child. The show was based around Bill O'Reilly's opinion of how the entertainment industry is corrupting the youth of America.

O'Reilly had interviews with Marilyn Manson, ICP, and Russell Simmons and basically bashed them, blaming them for putting terrible ideas into the heads of kids who aren't old enough to understand and for doing nothing for America's problem with poverty and illiteracy. He then went on to bash American Pie, horror movies, and ,yes, professional wrestling. He calls wrestling a carnival with programming 4 nights a week.

An interview with Linda McMahon is then shown. Linda says that Nielsen's research shows that 2-11 year olds watch wrestling with their parents and it becomes a family event. O'Reilly said he would never let his 2 year old watch wrestling programming. Linda responds saying that's fine and it's the parents responsibility to watch what their kids watch. O'Reilly asks about the kids without responsible parents, and Linda says it's not the programmers responsibility to censor what they put on TV.

They then show John (didn't catch his last name) in a hospital bed and talk about how he broke his neck imitating a move he saw on wrestling. They interview him and he says if this happened to him then how long will it be till somebody dies imitating wrestling. Back to Linda, she says that the kids do "get it" and understand that this is fake. The WWF "Don't try this at home" message is shown, but they then cut to backyard wrestling with Drowning Pool's "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" playing. From there he goes into another video package, this one talking about Lionel Tate who is on trial for killing his little sister imitating a wrestling move he said he saw on TV. He said when they came to arrest Lionel he was watching wrestling. O'Reilly finishes by saying that he thinks wrestling is coarsening society. The segment ends with Linda simply saying, "We like what we do."

I smell some HEAVY editing in the Linda interview (much like the Mick Foley 20/20 interview a couple years back) as she came off as uncaring of wrestling's impact on kids. This was VERY one sided and showed only the violent and sleazy aspect of wrestling, as well as just as much backyard wrestling footage as WWF programming. This makes me sick, O'Reilly has lost a fan in me tonight.

Kevin Wilson from Maryland Championship Wrestling sent this in

Last night at our show with Steve, from The Jerry Springer show, we got some
    big press from the AP.

    The story is below.

    Springer Security Chief Wrestles

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP) - As the head of security on Jerry Springer's
television talk show, Steve Wilkos is used to breaking up fights - but
he finally got to throw his muscle around instead of keeping the peace.

Wilkos made his professional wrestling debut on Wednesday night,
performing in the main event on a card promoted by Maryland Championship
Wrestling. The former Chicago police officer, paired with former World
Wrestling Federation light heavyweight champion Duane ``Gillberg创
Gill, defeated Chad Bowman and Dino Devine in a tag-team match.

``It was a blast. I磛e never done anything like this before,创
    said Wilkos, 38. ``I really enjoyed it.创

A record crowd of 1,627 packed Michael's Eighth Avenue, a ballroom that
usually hosts wedding receptions and high school proms. They chanted
``Steve! Steve! Steve!创 - just as audiences do when Wilkos appears
to corral unruly guests on the ``Jerry Springer Show.创

``What was exciting for me was to be able to use some force, which I
can磘 do on our (TV) show,创 said Wilkos, who磗 6-foot-3 and
weighs 220 pounds. ``I got to show some aggression for once.创
