Draft news, latest on Austin, Backlash, Vince meeting, more

There was a meeting held, yesterday, with all of the WWF wrestlers and Vince McMahon, where Vince told the wrestlers that the upcoming months could be difficult due to how everyone must adjust to the new system or show set ups. He also said that management will be closely monitoring both sides to see how each comes across. Vince wants an even playing field for both divisions, and trades will be made to even everything out.

The WWF made many attempts to get Steve Austin to come to RAW, but he turned down every one of them. Austin's anger comes from how he's been used ever since the arrival of the New World Order (Hogan, Hall, and Nash).

Another reason for why Austin isn't around is that he doesn't want to deal with the backstage politics now apparently in play in the WWF. Although it's said that Triple H and Stephanie McMahon respect Austin for standing firm on his ground, it's also said that Triple H has very much aligned himself with his old Clique buddies, Hall and Nash, and with Triple H wielding power from his relationship with Stephanie, it's apparent that Triple H has become very powerful backstage.

Steve Austin's timetable for returning is very much unknown. It's said that he'll return when he's fully satisfied with how the WWF will use him on television.

Again, the rumored Main Event for Backlash will be Triple H vs. the Undertaker. Because of this, Triple H will be more heavily involved with RAW than Smackdown, thus helping out the television show which is said to have the weaker roster, at least from some analysts (including myself).

All of the draft scenes were live last night at RAW, and some of the wrestlers actually didn't know where they were going in the draft, too. Some wrestlers were really surprised at the draft picks.

The timing of Stephanie McMahon's on air storyline of having to leave the company comes as no suprise to most people. Stephanie will have more on her plate now with having to manage double the amount of storylines due to the roster split. Stephanie will be back on TV but it is not expected to happen in the near future.
