Behind The Shotgun's Barrel

My last column received an overwhelming response from you the readers, it was a mix of agreement and disagreement, this is to be expect because not everyone thinks the same way I do, however what I found funny was that most of the negative feedback came after WM X-8 and after Raw hit the air.
I received an email from a guy that said he had been watching wrestling for 15 years, he said that I explained the way he felt perfectly, the product he loved so much was slowly getting flushed down the toilet and he couldn’t bear to watch it.
I want to make something clear for all for all of you readers out there, what I write is not what you should think, this is my personal opinion, I am not ordering you to think this or telling you that what I say is right and what you think is wrong, a column is just that, it’s the point of view of a wrestling fan.
After Raw and Wrestle Mania I started receiving emails taunting me because if the WWF was in such a bad shape then why did it get a 5.4 rating on Monday? They pretty much made me want to believe I was wrong and that the WWF was never bad to begin with.
However the fact remains, up until this Monday the WWF was in a hole and it couldn’t get out, then all of the sudden the split is announced, Brock Lesnar debuts and the hint of Stephanie McMahon possibly leaving forever has the fans marking out all over again.
My friends, when I said that the WWF product was in bad shape I did not want all of you to say to yourselves “this show sucks, change the channel”, I didn’t want you to stop watching wrestling, I wanted you to express your feelings and come out and say it, the current product is weak and I am getting tired of it.
I find it rather funny that all the changes the WWF made on Monday were the same things we the Internet fans have been bashing for months. We wanted new stars to debut, we got Brock Lesnar, we wanted the split to finally happen, it will happen this Monday, we wanted less Stephanie McMahon and with a little luck and faith she will be gone forever on Monday.
The WWF may have done a lot of things right on Monday and yes it may have hooked a lot of new fans again which is good for us all but always remember this, the WWF has had better shows this years and after a week or two the fans were gone again, this can be seen with the Invasion angle, the Rock return, the Triple H return and the nwo debut.
I hope that the WWF keeps this pace up, I hope that the ratings keep coming up every week, I hope that every wish of all the people out there comes true, and most of all I hope that the WWF product regains its prestige it once had, after all we are all wrestling fans and we all want the best for the WWF, right?
Thank you very much.
