Yesterday we posted a bit about Rock having a new movie in production this summer called "Bounty Hunter". Here is the title correction and more information on the movie from Variety and Yahoo.

Universal and Rock see gold in "Helldorado"

As it preps for the April 19 launch of "The Scorpion King," Universal is negotiating with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to follow with "Helldorado," an action- adventure film that will begin production late summer. Kevin Misher and Karen Glasser will produce.

James Vanderbilt, who penned the John McTiernan- directed John Travolta/Samuel L. Jackson drama "Basic," has been hired to rewrite the script.

Universal pinned down rights to "Helldorado" (originally scripted by R. J. Stewart) after Sony put it in turnaround, because U production prexy Scott Stuber and exec Dylan Clark saw it as a way to keep the Rock in the fold. The World Wrestling Federation superstar is fast transforming into a bankable action hero. Originating the Scorpion King character in a brief stint in "The Mummy Returns," the Rock was employed heavily in a marketing campaign that helped the sequel hit blockbuster status. That spawned his first starring vehicle in "The Scorpion King," which was directed by Chuck Russell and produced by Misher, Stephen Sommers, Sean Daniel and Jim Jacks.

The Rock will get a chance to show some range in "Helldorado." The contemporary actioner casts him as a bounty hunter who attempts to square a debt by heading to the Amazon jungle to capture someone. The bounty hunter discovers that his quarry isn't the bad guy he'd been warned about, and the two team up in pursuit of riches stored in a mine in the Amazon. U's looking for a star to join Johnson in a strong buddy role, and to cast the role of a woman who comes between the newfound pals.

The Rock has been offered numerous action-oriented films, and has "L.A. Confidential" scribe Brian Helgeland writing a vehicle for him. But sources said that his Endeavor agents expect to quickly close a deal that will make "Helldorado" his next film. Misher Films exec Patrick Baker brought in the project.

Wed night at the Dream Theater concert in Toronto, the band was joined by none other than Chris Jericho. Heard a rumour that he was there when we finally got inside, so wasn't too shocked when the singer (James LaBrie) announced that they had a special friend with them tonight. Jericho came out for the song 'Pull Me Under'. He ran around the stage a lot, talking to each guy. They had given him a mike, and he tried to talk to the crowd, but it was turned down really low and we couldn't hear him except for a couple of loud screams. He didn't realize it, so I got a laugh out it. He did a couple harmonies with LaBrie, waved goodbye, and took off.

The manager/stylist of the Chuck & Billy team is WWF developmental/OVW wrestler Rico Costantino. Judging from WWF.com's Smackdown spoilers, the WWF will be shortening his name to just "Rico". http://www.wwf.com/media/2002/03/20/1121179?page=10

    Late WrestleMania fan notes

First of all, I think Toronto is a great city. You just don't know how big Wrestlemania was this year in Toronto. The WWF's Hogan-Rock match made the front page of their main newspaper (Toronto Sun) the day after the event; their was a 10 page covering. They also spoke about it on TSN's sportscenter like it was a boxing match or another pure sport. It was so cool! I even went to a bar after the event and I saw at least 20 WWF t-shirts and the DJ took the mic and told everybody that Triple H won. What sucks is that you can't bring your beer to your seat at the skydome and you can't buy more than one beer at the time. They stop selling beer as early as 10 pm at the skydome. They stop selling alcohol at 2 am in the bars/dancing clubs. In Montreal, you can bring the beer you purchased to your seat and there is even a salesman walking in the arena selling beer. They stop selling beer at 3 am in Quebec. The crowd at the molson center was really electrified! I brought a huge huge banner that said: BRET HART IS STILL THE GREATEST. They never showed our section. We were holding signs such as YOU SCREWED BRET; I think this is the reason why the cameras never came our way. As we were driving from Toronto to Montreal, we called with a cell phone a radio station in Montreal (98.5 cool FM) and we stated we were coming back from Wrestlemania and we stated the return of Hulk Hogan. We made a special song request as a tribut to Hulk Hogan: Voodoo child. We saluted everybody going to the molson center to see the WWF that night. We were so proud to hear that Hulk was coming out with his old Jimmy Hendrix song again. We wanted to buy a souvenir but it was really expensive; the WWF t-shirts were 30$. I also read prior to Wrestlemania the hotdogs were the cheaper in the world at the skydome (99 cents) but I never found them. The only hotdogs I could buy at the skydome were really expensive; almost 4$ each!! A bottle of water was 3,25$. Anyway, I had a lot of fun! We were able to see the show very well, even if we were far; thanks to the giant screen. I think WM X8 will go down as a classic in WWF history.
