Absolute Intense Wrestling returns to Turners Hall on December 21, 2012, celebrating the apocalypse in style with THE END OF THE WORLD. All eleven matches for this coming Friday’s show have been announced and can be seen on AIW’s Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/aiwrestling), but here’s a preview of what’s in store for you on December 21:
The Submission Squad (Pierre Abernathy, Evan Gellistico, and Gary Jay) vs. The Old-School Express (Jock Samson, Marion Fontaine, and COLT CABANA)
For months, The Submission Squad have been torturing Jock Samson over his decision to dissolve their Four Stallions group in the aftermath of Jock’s classic Texas Bullrope Match against The Duke at Absolution VII. After the Squad beat Jock and Conway the Bullrope at Point Break, Samson called upon “The Handlebar Haberdasher” Marion Fontaine as backup, forming the duo known as The Old School Express. Despite their initial success and the rapturous approval of the Turners Hall faithful, the Express lost their first match as a duo, succumbing to the tag team experience of the Submission Squad and their use of the numbers game.
Well, Jock and Fontaine have had enough. After challenging Pierre Abernathy, Evan Gellistico, and Gary Jay to a three on three war at The End of the World, it was quickly announced that their partner would be none other than Colt “Boom Boom” Cabana, Professional Wrestler. Having called in the big guns, one would think that The End of the World favors The Old School Express, but Cabana is just coming back from finger surgury. Will there be ring rust? Will the Squad’s experience as a trios unit once again overcome the element of surprise? Has Colt’s finger been saved?
Allysin Kay vs. Kobald
“AK-47” Allysin Kay has quite literally done it all in AIW of late. She is the reigning, defending AIW Women’s Champion and the undisputed face of its Girls Night Out division. She has beaten Mia Yim in an unsanctioned “Fans Bring the Weapons” death match and within the confines of a steel cage. She’s beaten internationally traveled superstar Jennifer Blake, turned back the challenge of “Crazy” Mary Dobson, and mauled K.C. Warfield. On YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osL3m8c_-rs) Kay took AIW management to task for feeding her “table scraps,” demanding an opportunity to prove that she is, without question, the best women’s wrestler in the world. AIW management responded by issuing an open contract for The End of the World, and even they were surprised by who answered: Kobald, the aggressive, annoying, demonic goblin prince of The Batiri.
AIW fans are already familiar with The Batiri, as the duo of Obariyon and Kodama are former AIW Tag Team Champions, but it was Kobald who debuted with us first, whose early appearance in AIW was a sign of things to come. He returns to us just in time for The End of the World, which he and his teammates have been threatening wrestling fans with over the course of the past year. Neither he nor Allysin Kay are strangers to intergender competition, though it must be said that seeing a woman standing across the ring from them brings out the absolute worst in the demons from Bled Isle. Can Allysin Kay prove her worth as one of the best wrestlers in the world, or will Kobald play spoiler?
AR Fox vs. Davey Richards
The main event of The End of the World is a first-time-ever independent wrestling dream match, as former Ring of Honor World Heavyweight Champion goes one on one with AR Fox. Fox returned to AIW at last month’s Hell on Earth 8, taking Round Two in a series of Iron Man Matches with ACH. His time in AIW thus far has been spent stealing shows, if not with ACH, then with Uhaa Nation. In Richards, Fox takes on a man whose reputation and accolades speak for themselves, a man whose dedication, passion, and determination between the ropes is unmatched by anybody on the planet. Richards is no stranger to AIW, having taken on BJ Whitmer in an absolute classic encounter at last year’s They Live event, but he’s never faced anybody quite like AR Fox, who has made 2012 his year in professional wrestling, and who looks to enter 2013—if there is a 2013—with Richard’s name on his rapidly growing resume.
If you were at Hell on Earth 8 and saw Johnny Gargano vs. Michael Elgin, then you know that AIW does not disappoint when it comes to dream matches. Richards vs. Fox happens for the first time ever on December 21, and that’s in addition to ten other matches that prove why Absolute Intense Wrestling is quickly becoming one of the most-talked-about promotions in the United States. Tickets for The End of the World are just $15, and can be yours at http://www.shop.aiwrestling.com
