My Two Centsss - Why You Cannot Afford to Miss Wrestlemania XXX

(Tom Jenner is the man!)
Happy Wrestlemania Sunday! We are mere hours away from one of my favourite days of the year. Some people compare Wrestlemania to Christmas morning. Others call it as big of a sporting event as the Super Bowl. Me, I'm just so damn excited. I haven't seen a live 'Mania for two years, and to be honest with you, the build to this year's show has been so much better than what we got in 2013. Despite all of WWE's "locked-in" plans going a stray (the Daniel Bryan heel turn rushed and nixed, Batista being booed out of the building at the Royal Rumble, CM Punk going home the night after the Rumble), management has been able to string together a fun-looking card. Why they weren't able to do the same for Wrestlemania 29 when they had even more stars at their disposal (Punk, Chris Jericho, Ryback when he was still relevant), I'll never know.
But enough discussing the past! Tonight could very well see the beginning of a shift in the WWE landscape with the old guard potentially on the verge of stepping aside and allowing new faces to step into more focal aspects of WWE television. Therefore, I present to you several reasons why you have to find a way to watch Wrestlemania XXX tonight, be it via the Network, old-fashioned Pay-Per-View, or going to a sports bar or movie theater (shame on people who illegally stream 'Mania; if you can't afford a WWE PPV every month, I understand, but you can at least watch Wrestlemania the honourable way, right?).
There will be several contenders for Match of the Year
There are some fans (myself included) who consider Wrestlemania 28 one of the best 'Manias since WM X-7. That's mainly because of the top three matches - Punk/Jericho, 'Taker/HHH, Cena/Rock - all delivering big-time and each being ranked at four-stars or higher. Then Wrestlemania 29 happened, and the only great match on that card was Punk vs. Taker. Hours before Wrestlemania XXX takes place, we have several bouts that if the stars align, could very well go down as some of the best WM matches of all-time. That's a bold statement to make considering the event hasn't happened yet, but I truly believe Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H, John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt, Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar, and even the triple threat main-event could make for one hell of a top tier of matches. Think about it - if every one of those matches deliver, Wrestlemania XXX could go down in history as one of the greatest 'Manias of all-time. As far as match-quality goes, tonight's show could be full of it, and that's without taking the undercard into consideration.
Tonight's show has something for everyone
I'm not going to sit here and pretend I'm fine with The Shield taking on Kane & The New Age Outlaws at Wrestlemania - as it pales in comparison to their feud with The Wyatt Family heading into Elimination Chamber - but the more I think about it, the more I understand how beneficial the match is for everyone. Let's say the six-man does indeed kick off the Pay-Per-View. Fans such as myself who follow the product week in and week out will most likely be rooting for The Shield. But what about the casual viewer, who watches wrestling once in a blue moon? He/she will probably be excited to see three guys they recognize in Kane and The Outlaws. So, essentially, the match is a perfect mix of the old generation and the new one.
Also scheduled for tonight is at least one musical performance as it appears that Rev Theory will be playing Randy Orton to the ring and Bray Wyatt is rumoured to be having his entrance music performed live as well. I'm not a fan of concerts on WWE television, but who knows, maybe there are other people who don't mind?
Another recent development for 'Mania is how star-studded tonight's show will be. While the likes of The Rock, Hulk Hogan, and Stone Cold Steve Austin won't be competing, they will be involved with the PPV in some way or another. Throw in John Cena, Triple H, The Undertaker, and The Ultimate Warrior, and you have seven of the biggest stars in wrestling history all under the same roof at the exact same time. That's incredible.
And, of course, the divas will have a match because I'm sure there are some folks out there who were looking to purchase a porno movie on Viewer's Choice, saw the XXX logo, and ordered the show, thinking that four hours of porn for $55 isn't that bad of a deal. After all, I can't explain why they booked this joke of a match since most people who watch Total Divas will be watching, well, Total Divas instead of Wrestlemania. That's my logic, anyway.
Stars can/will be born
As I'm looking up and down the card, I can't help but notice how the ball is in WWE's court to create some new stars that will be main-eventing/headlining a Wrestlemania five years from now, if not sooner. That being said, they don't have to necessarily win their match in order to be elevated. For example, let's say the 30-Man Andre the Giant Battle Royal Memorial comes down to four men - Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, Alberto del Rio, and The Miz. I know several columnists here at LOP have been predicting a win for the Celtic Warrior, but I don't see it happening; ditto for Del Rio. So let's say it comes down to Miz and Ziggler, and Miz finds a way to eliminate Ziggler and keep his Wrestlemania streak alive, does that translate to Ziggler being "buried" because he didn't win? Not at all. Look at Roman Reigns - he shocked the world by making it to the finals of the 2014 Royal Rumble match and he came away looking like an even bigger star than he was before he entered (although his record-setting number of eliminations didn't hurt either).
My point is, while someone like Ziggler or Antonio Cesaro could really benefit from winning the Battle Royal, and a win over John Cena could take Bray Wyatt's career to unbelievable new heights, it's not the end of the world if they don't come out victorious, either. Wrestlemania is about sending the fans home happy, which brings me to my final and most important point...
Tonight will be all about Daniel Bryan getting his moment and sending the fans home happy
Mick Foley is 100% right on this one - there is no way Wrestlemania XXX will end any other way than 75,000+ fans chanting 'Yes! Yes! Yes!' at the top of their lungs. I can't help but laugh at countless people who are predicting that Bryan vs. HHH will either end screwy or HHH will be the one who competes in the triple threat OR that someone other than Bryan will leave New Orleans with the WWE World Heavyweight title. Seriously, people? WWE has been screwing with you since SummerSlam. They have not sent the fans home happy since Money in the Bank (Bryan's win at Night of Champions felt too hollow to be real). There is no chance in hell WWE will have WM XXX end in controversial fashion with someone other than Bryan being victorious in the main-event. It's not gonna happen.
WWE is done trolling us, folks. They are slowly transitioning Cena to a part-timer role, and in order for that to happen, they need someone else to put butts into seats. That man is Daniel Bryan, at least for the short-term until guys like Wyatt and members of The Shield are ready to take that role, and in order to do that, Bryan needs to be made at Wrestlemania. Fear not - tonight will indeed be Bryan's moment, and you won't want to miss it.
Chrisss's quick Wrestlemania XXX predictions:
-The Usos retain their titles in the pre-show (smh) fatal-four-way match
-The Shield defeats Citizen Kane & The Outlaws
-Aj retains the divas title
-Cena (barely) beats Wyatt
-'Taker over Lesnar (duh)
-Miz wins the Battle Royal
-Bryan cleanly defeats HHH
-Bryan beats Orton and Batista for the title
