My Two Centsss - Some LIVE Raw Thoughts ( I Was There!)

Those of you who follow me on Twitter (or stalk me online via other unknown and creepy ways) probably heard by now that I attended my first live Raw in years last night in Montreal. Before you start questioning my claim as a 'WWE superfan' keep in mind that for whatever reason, we're lucky if WWE visits us more than once a year. The last Raw we got was back in 2012, the night Jerry Lawler suffered a stroke, which I missed because...reasons. But the point is, I was super excited to be attending Raw last night, even though two of my favourites (Daniel Bryan and Bad News Barrett) were out with injuries.
Obviously, there's no point in me recapping the show for you since a) you already saw it or read the results online and b) TripleR did a fantastic job covering the show with his Running Diary. I was sad to hear that the live crowd didn't carry over well to live television, because the Montreal crowd (especially my section) was HOT all night long. Therefore, here are a few notes from my live Raw experience:
*As soon as we arrived at the arena, all of the merchandise stands were packed (as usual). I think that always happens because there are so many taxes and shipping & handling fees when you order from WWESHOP.com that most Quebecors simply wait until WWE comes to town to get their merch. Luckily for me, I walked away with a Bryan shirt, Jericho shirt, Erick Rowan sheep mask, and a 'Yes!' towel for a cool $80. Could have been worse.
*The moment we got to our seats, the security took away our signs since we were on the floor, fifth row, and we would be blocking the cameras. I was really pissed; it took me hours to design my "Paige Me Maybe" and "Ambrose 3:16" signs!
*Before the show even started, the crowd was already duel chanting "Let's Go Cena/Cena Sucks!". Lots of CM Punk chants all night long, as well.
Speaking of the former WWE Champion, I don't think crowds chant his name just to troll WWE. I just think the crowd misses him. There were a few 'Yes!' chants, but Cena and Punk were the two more common chants.
*The crowd was into Adam Rose before, during, and after his match with Titus O'Neil on Superstars, but I don't think they've booked Rose in a match longer than three minutes yet, which makes no sense, really.
*Roman Reigns was MEGA over, but more on that in a bit.
*WWE did a poor job of letting the crowd know what was going on in the storylines. They never made an announcement why The Authority wasn't there; no one knew Ziggler vs. Del Rio was a number one contender's match for the U.S. title; there wasn't even an announcement for Swagger vs. Rusev at Battleground!
*Harper & Rowan were surprisingly more over than The Usos; great match, though.
*Both Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox are way hotter in person; TV doesn't do them justice.
*Rusev's entrance and presence is a lot more intimidating than what we see on TV. A lot of people (myself included) were shocked to see him go over RVD so cleanly.
*The crowd was mixed for Ambrose vs. Orton, but as the match went on, Ambrose won the haters over. TripleR said the two didn't really click, but other than the botch off the top rope (which the crowd responded with a "You ****ed Up" towards Orton), it was probably MOTN.
*Fandango didn't receive an entrance. No one knew he was out on commentary until his music played to distract Ziggler (who got a good pop and plenty of "Let's Go Ziggler" chants, by the way). A lot of people were Fandangoing but me and my friend were just like, "nope".
*HUGE reactions for both Jerry Lawler Bret Hart, and plenty of heat for Sandow, which carried over into his match against Sheamus. The U.S. Champion was the only babyface of the night to not have any crowd support (there were "Let's Go Nikki" chants, but zero "Let's Go Sheamus" chants...chew on that one).
*Y2J was probably the second most popular active wrestler on the card (behind Reigns) and the crowd was really behind him during his match with The Miz. I'm not going to lie; Miz vs. Jericho was a bit of a disappointment, especially after the fan report which raved over their match from the night before. I actually like this new, 'Hollywood' Miz. Unfortunately, his return isn't off to a very good start.
*Crowd was split over Paige and Aj (very few people cared about the Funkadactyls and their post-match brawl). I was elated because when Paige made her entrance, she looked at my section and I started jumping up and down, screaming her name (don't judge me!). Paige's ass, though, has to be seen in person to be believed. Wow.
*Cesaro and Paul Heyman got a good pop, but as soon as Cesaro started insulting Quebec (saying we were 'puree' a.k.a. 'filthy' and the rest of Canada hates us - which is true) he got major heat. The crowd chanted "tu es puree" (you are filth/disgusting) the entire match.
*Bo Dallas was also surprisingly over. Plenty of "I Bolieve" signs and whatnot. I don't know how having Bo beat up a midget who buried 3MB is supposed to get Bo heat, but what do I know?
*The crowd exploded as soon as Cena's music hit, and I don't think the crowd ever let up the "Let's Go Cena/Cena Sucks" chants until Kane and everyone interfered after the match. Good match, by the way - Rollins is an amazing athlete! Even though the post-match shenanigans could be seen coming a mile away, the crowd loved every second of it.
*As I mentioned earlier, the crowd went INSANE for Roman Reigns. Apparently, you guys saw the face-off between Reigns and Cena to end Raw, but after fending off an attack from The Wyatt Family once the cameras stopped rolling, Cena and Reigns did another "pose-off" but Reigns was the clear favourite. Cena kept getting booed, as it was clear that Montreal wanted Reigns instead, who was nice enough to go around ringside and shake everyone's hand. Nice guy.
*After the show, me and my friend went outside the Bell Centre to try and catch the wrestlers leaving the arena. If anyone cares, here's who we saw:
-Bo Dallas and Bray Wyatt leaving together;
-Paige by herself;
-Aj Lee by herself;
-Cody Rhodes and Eden;
-Damien Sandow by himself;
-Kofi and Big E (the latter which hid his face until Kofi drove off);
-Rusev and Lana (Rusev had trouble leaving the garage, which got a funny "You Can't Drive" chant);
-Renee Young and Dean Ambrose.
Finally, for those who want to know, here's who got the biggest pops and heat:
1. Roman Reigns
2. Bret Hart
3. Jerry Lawler
4. Chris Jericho
5. John Cena
2. Randy Orton
3. Damien Sandow
4. John Cena
All in all, a really fun night of wrestling. A lot of people who saw the show at home said it was kind of boring and felt really long, but for us, the time certainly flew by. Not too much storyline progress, especially without The Authority being there, but we got three great matches (Usos vs. Wyatts, Ambrose vs. Orton, Cena vs. Rollins), and more than our money's worth!
Your Two Centsss: On a scale from 1-10, how would you grade last night's Raw? From a live perspective, I'd give it an 8.5
