My Two Centsss - Goodbye For Now WWE, See You April 8th!
By Super Chrisss

If you've been following my columns for a decent amount of time, you'll know that I started watching wrestling in 2002 and ever since, I have been a loyal WWE fan. Even when the product got bad (see: 2005), or when I had way too much going on in my life (a new job, a new girlfriend, etc.), I always went out of my way to keep up with WWE programming. Every now and then I would miss an episode of RAW or SmackDown, but I did everything in my power to catch up on what I had missed. Wrestlemania season, in particular, has always been exciting, because nine years out of ten, the company gave us one fascinating angle after another, and you almost always had a reason to keep tuning and look forward to Wrestlemania.

This year, I've had enough. Last Monday's RAW was the straw that broke the camel's back. With the obvious exception of CM Punk vs. John Cena, the show was a train-wreck and once again a chore to get through. The countless jobber entrances, the same old matches, the head-scratching booking, the Touts, the commentary, the constant movie trailers - it was just too much for me to get through. Three hour RAWs are a failure, entertainment-wise, and ratings-wise as well (I can't recall the last time RAW's viewership didn't decline during the third hour since the format change last summer). RAW was a mess, and if it wasn't for that Match of the Year candidate between Cena and Punk, it would have went down as one of the worst RAWs of all-time.

As a 23-year-old fan, there's simply nothing for me to get excited about. The brawl between Triple H and Brock Lesnar was more exciting than their 2012 feud and SummerSlam match combined, but it does not change the fact that the two will have another mediocre match, this time at the biggest Pay-Per-View of the year. The idiot fans who chanted for HHH to come out and save Vince simply justified WWE's decision by going through with the match, and I hate them for that. Lesnar/HHH II does not appeal to me whatsoever, and having to watch their brawl be replayed over and over and over for the next five weeks fills me with dread.

Not only that, but WWE seemingly has no idea what they're doing with the rest of the Wrestlemania card. I remember many Wrestlemanias when at least half the card would be set in stone by this time of year, but other than the aforementioned HHH/Lesnar rematch, Rock/Cena II, and Swagger/Del Rio, the rest of the card is anybody's guess. I've read the SmackDown spoilers (something which I've done only ONCE since joining the IWC, by the way), and without getting into any details, there was no build-up to any other matches, except for possibly an encounter between The Shield and The Justice League 3.0. Again, not interested.

Oh, and I haven't mentioned him in a while, but Zack Ryder is still my favourite wrestler, despite being pretty much M.I.A from WWE TV in 2013. Speaking of Ryder, I'm fed up of the IWC ripping on him for "complaining" about his status with the company. There is a difference between complaining and poking fun at yourself, by the way. Every one of Ryder's tweets where he "bitched and moaned" about his role was actually stuff he used to say/perform on Z! True Long Island Story. You know, the same YouTube show that 99% of the IWC loved before WWE got their hands on it and ruined it. People rooted for Ryder when he made fun of himself on Z!TLIS, but when he does the exact same thing on Twitter, since his show was no longer worth producing every week, these same people tear him apart for "complaining". Just saying.

Anyways, my favourite wrestler hasn't been used with any importance for months, while my other favourite wrestler - CM Punk - will be stuck jobbing to Undertaker on April 7th. I know in my last article I suggested we be optimistic about The Deadman's Wrestlemania plans, but a match with the former WWE Champion seems locked if the company wants Punk involved in a major Wrestlemania match. And to be honest, Punk vs. 'Taker doesn't appeal to me. Their feud was terrible four years ago, and with only a month of build-up, and suffering back-to-back-to-back losses against The Rock and John Cena, would anyone believe Punk could end The Streak? I'd be shocked if it did. Out of the scheduled 'main-events', the only one I find myself looking forward to is Del Rio vs. Swagger, which is kind of sad when you think about it.

Therefore, starting today, February 27, I will be boycotting WWE until April 8th, the night after Wrestlemania. There are plenty of fans who threaten to quit watching WWE when they see something they don't like, but I'm going through with it, at least temporarily. For the next month, WWE won't be getting a Canadian ratings point from my household for RAW and SmackDown. They also won't be getting a Wrestlemania buy from me, that's for sure. If you're as unhappy and disinterested in Wrestlemania season as I am, then do something about it. Help make this year's show not as financially successful as they think it will be. Don't 'feed the machine' by contributing to their weekly ratings - just don't watch. I won't, at least not for a while. I'll still follow the news and results here on LOP, but I'll find something else to watch on Monday nights, go out a bit earlier on Fridays, and save myself $55 this April.

On the bright side, there does happen to be a different kind of wrestling every Thursday night...

So does this mean you won't hear from me until post-Wrestlemania? Fortunately (or unfortunately, if you don't like me), that's not possible, because not posting a column every 21 days would result in me getting kicked off the Main Page. Therefore, expect several TNA columns from me the next month. In fact, keep your eyes peeled for my LockDown predictions next weekend, and maybe an Impact Tweeting Diary before then.
